Extraordinary Poinsettias in all sizes

It’s time for the 17th Annual Friends of the Smoky Hill Museum Poinsettia Fundraiser. The Friends of the Smoky Hill Museum invite you to treat your friends, relatives, co-workers and yourself to a gorgeous holiday! Grown right here in Central Kansas, these poinsettias are perfect for your holiday decor or as a festive gift. So beat the holiday rush and pre-order your poinsettia today. Your purchase also has an added bonus – helping support Smoky Hill Museum programming and events.

Rich in color and tradition, these locally grown poinsettias are not your average holiday plants. Our splendid small plants, ranging from 15 to 18 inches, are 13 dollars each and the dazzling medium plants, ranging from 22 to 24 inches, are 28 dollars each. Both options are filled with bright, lovely blooms and are available in red, pink, white, and mauve. Also available is the stunning 36-inch red poinsettia for 40 dollars.

Order 30 or more plants and receive a discount plus free delivery. Special offers are available for churches. Friends of the Smoky Hill Museum also receive a discount.

Please pre-order by November 16. Call the Smoky Hill Museum at 309-5776. Pick-up date is Saturday, December 6 from 10am to 4pm at the Smoky Hill Museum. For more information, contact Haley Brown at the Smoky Hill Museum, 309-5776.

Proceeds from this fundraiser support programming and events of the Smoky Hill Museum.

First Thursday Program: Add Pizzazz to Your Photos

Do your photos make you want to say, “Wow!” or “Whoops!”? Dale Cole, a local photographer and co-proprietor of ArtXpressions, will share practical suggestions to add pizzazz to your photos. He’ll discuss lighting, adding interest to your photo and will even share how to make your own photo cards. Dale specializes in scenery and nature photos from Kansas and around the globe. He’s also a featured artist in the Smoky Hill Museum Gift Store. If you’d like to see a few of his photos, go to www.dalecolephotos.com.

This free presentation is offered by the Smoky Hill Museum, Thursday, November 6, 5:30-6:30 pm. For more information call 785-309-5776.

First Thursdays is a collaboration of the Cultural Roundtable, a consortium of museums, libraries, galleries, performance, educational institutions and service organization to schedule and promote programs, exhibits, and activities of interest to Salina residents and visitors.
