"Devil's Washboard"

Teenagers should beware of the Devil's Washboard, a series of hills on a narrow road in the Gypsum area. One story states that a car full of teens, all intoxicated, sped over the hills and wrecked. Another version has two cars playing "chicken" on the treacherous road, with one crashing. Both stories end the same, the teens meet an untimely end.

As a warning, the town displayed the demolished car on stilts on the fatal hill. Many say the teenagers can still be heard screaming on dark nights.
