A Spot of Tea Anyone?

Divination by tea leaves, coffee or wine sediment is known as tasseography, tasseomancy or tassology. The terms derive from the French word tasse (cup) and the Greek suffixes -graph, -logy, and -mancy (divination).

The origins and tenets of tasseography are murky, but many believe it stems from ancient China. Some claim only those with clear psychic abilities should read the leaves. Others say drinkers should read their own leaves to tap into their subconscious. All seem to agree that tea leaf reading depends upon the psychic abilities and imaginative interpretation of the reader.
